Well it’s not hugely unsafe as long as you are certain you are actually going to EE servers and we arnt submitting highly sensitive info but it needs to be addressed.

Don’t worry too much about it.

Actually that could be related - I think a lot of the 3rd party API's tend to fail when the cert fails, like EEstats doesn't have updated grabs or land totals etc.

You might be able to check the bugs and suggestion to see how often it happens. I thought it was rarer, but it looks like it's resolved now (but with another 3 month cert), so if they don't add a reminder to change it, it could happen that often until someone tells them again.
