This server is getting really tedious. The bots are usually messed up which makes netting hard and there seems to be an influx of players that have no idea this is a strategy game, so they grab and double tap anyone they can with no regards to the outcome.

I know...huge run on sentence. But really this used to be my favorite server. I hate to complain but come on. Fix the bots... and people...just because you may be able to break someone maybe you should use your brain and see if it's beneficial or not to do so. Every action gets a reaction. This is a strategy game.

I actually think that the rules are on point for the server with the GDI rules of harmful ops, time frame and such for the last 6 hours of the set. agree with you beerdrinker. they both give netters a chance to net, and leave an avenue to deal with the tards.

not forgetting "diminished returns" early set.

Some guy put me deep into dr early into this set. I could have raped a lot of players but i prefer to keep my profile open and not play like a fluff.

beerdrinker is one of the most positive and encouraging people on this server, usually keeping those thoughts to himself from what I have seen. For him to get to this point, speaks volumes....and, as Marshal said, on deaf ears..sadly.

I don't care (except for the inconsistencies) if the bots don't work, but the d1ckhead factor makes the pool of competitors, and those who actually try to get better each week, much smaller. So if we have 50 players, maybe only 30 want to win.

I have never attempted anything in which I did not do my absolute best at being successful. While I have never won even after playing for years, I still ask a lot of questions, compare notes, and try to put myself in position to be successful. I try to get better each week; I haven't given up to become a suicider. I suppose there are those that consider screwing up others as being successful. I have always said the personalities on this game are a snapshot of the personalities we see in society...the good, the bad, the cruel, weird, etc....and probably at a similar ratio.

So, when one creates a country for next week, he/she should ask themselves if they want to be part of the solution in making this game competitive, fun, teach others, etc, and help it grow, or contribute to the problem that remains to be a shrinking pool of total number of players, which includes a portion of d1ckheads that only want to screw up someone. If part of the later, don't play.

Takes all kinds to make a great game. Everyone can't be a netgaining snowflake.

I just say if you are gonna war at least be decent at it. Don't waste my time.

I completely share your thoughts beerdrinker. I've been back for 4 sets now, and have had to deal with stupidity for all of them. I've been doing my part to try to set them straight, but some don't listen.

For anyone that understands how to read the code drop me a PM and we can talk about reviewing the bot code to see if you can figure out why they stop playing turns. My first guess is the market here goes to hell and then the bots run out of cash and cannot play turns and somehow they never start back up - but I really have no idea.

Much of the development is probably still buried away on the AI section of the forum.

Looks like they are still down i don't see any botlike names showing up in the country list.

if bots (commies mostly) sell their goodies at priv sell price + taxes + few bucks they will run out of money eventually.

I wish I could help you on reading the code, but I wouldn't be of much help.
However, I can say that I don't think this issue relates to running out of cash (at least not this time).

The fact that they didn't create countries this set, tells us quite a bit.

When they stop during a round like that, they typically miss the next startup until qz intervenes. It's almost definitely a bug during them spending or attempting to spend turns.

not that i'd understand the code, but where can you find out the bot codes? or even how the game formulas work?

it seems more like a black box unless somebody spent time to systematically reverse engineer it?

or is all of this already open source?

you can find a chunk of the game formulas in the wiki page thought some might be outdated.

the bot code is just a flow chart really, a IF/ELSE/WHILE loop

That's interesting. If that's true, that's the first part of code we should try to fix. Shouldn't be too hard to put in error checking that says start again at the next set start.

I haven't played the last 6 resets. Didn't feel the need to then, and I just don't feel it now. I made top10 in repeatable fashion; that's good enough for me. I almost always come out on top whenever someone steps to me, and that's good enough for me. I've felt satisfied whenever performing an experiment or dispensing justice for others, and that's good enough for me. I feel there is nothing more for me to accomplish here.

lol...you probably owe me one or two, SuperFly! But, playing without bots does let me to go back to an old strategy I stopped using when the bots were created.

I screwed up last week. It was my first time playing in months, I didn't know the bots were not working and hit mobzta and kingme...two pals. They let me slide, and I appreciated it, because later I lost 1k acres to gogy.

That's the downside to the shrinking game. Most of us have played together for years and are pals and respect each other. Looking back, it's a good thing we do not have alliances anymore or it would be more like a modified team server.
