GREGG WAS RIGHT

All joking aside, where were the techers? How can a techer sell tech for $4k all set and not win?

yea not to sure..took a long time for basically all tech to fall...

ill bet 200 mill in FA that next set there is 25 techers and tech is 2k within 24h!

well i didnt have to buy much tech at 4k

and tech prices tend to drop fast so techers can get very little income from their last batch of turns

also since income is more frontloaded you lose a lot more to food drop and commisions or corruption than a strat which makes a lot of income later and can spend a bit extra on growth to reduce stocking losses

I always pick terrible strats based on the market. Guess I should just play the same one over and over until the market changes to me.

Well enshula, you were either very lucky or patient or both. I had SOs for $1500 tech during the last 30 hours of the set and got nothing.

im not really sure what can be done to make casher not so dominant in express

maybe 3% commisions would help

perhaps have the market auto buy food at $31 to make stocking food less of a risk

perhaps 2 week or even 6 day sets, possibly even less turns on hand

perhaps higher percentage sale limits than 25%

obviously the dynamics would be quite different with 20% more or less countries too, particularly more or less countries trying to netgain

i didnt buy any tech for the last 40 odd hours

got to 200k bus and 200k res then bought a bit of mil tech

since thats one of the more effective ways to play it demonstrates a bit why tech prices can fluctuate so wildly

lol bore I bought your tanks :P and if I had had 4k tech all set last set I woulda finished a lot higher than 16mill....

overall, both tech and military prices were quite high all set. still a casher won.

I am game to changing around rules so casher isn't so dominant.

I've been thinking about how to modify the market so it favors sellers a little bit more, since casher is the only strat that doesn't have to sell stuff on the market.

"perhaps higher percentage sale limits than 25%" sounds nice, but that would result in lower prices across the board, which is good for cashers. I'm not entirely convinced it would have the desired effect.

What would lowering the effectiveness of tech do?

relative to every gov but Rs the rule favors H

but so what? two very exciting sets with new tpt rule
demand for everything was way up
Cs and Fs both enjoyed the set
and two of the new Is flirted with the top twenty until dying untimely deaths
great set

higher sale limits is more about it being so much easier to play casher

just login a few times assuming theres enough stuff on the market

if there was a way to safely stock food that could help both techer and farmer

raising food consumption would weaken casher in income terms, and particularly theo cash but it shouldnt effect market prices too much, and if it did it wouldnt help much with stocking food since youd lose even more then

express almost needs market bots in a way to smooth things out since cashers should really wait till 900 turns to go oop and because express is so leapfroggy doing a tech start while perhaps hurting your networth a bit makes you safer because your land is lower at most points of the set

Lower the tech effectiveness for Reps. I know there was a lot of theo cashers out there but it might help. I dont think changing the 25 % sale thing would help.

this is a good idea..
would nerf reps a bit, without greatly effecting most other gov types

here's the prob with techer. i drop 10k bus res agri on at $4k. then someone drops 20k at $3450. so i pll mine off tech my turns, and drop in 25k at 3400. only to have 60k drop for $3100 after i've sold 1/4 of mine. in plainer terms, there is too much supply, not enough demand. to play my turns i need my tech to sell so i can stick on another batch. but to get it sold, you have to waste turns pulling it off, and selling cheap. so our techers aren't getting anywhere near 20m nw

I don't think techer's so horrible - I've had 2 top 10 finishes with them. It's all about timing, but if you've got the patience to wait out the market for a bit it can do just fine.

You need to be on way too much to do a good techer... top 10 isnt particularily hard either.. i got 10th with 900mill left last set and didn't do great up till that point

Yeah, those were both pretty slow weekends for me. I usually won't run 'em just because I don't have the time, but it still goes to show it's a completely top 10 worth strat here, as I ran a straight up techer with minimal destocking/reselling phase both times.
