I was worried I ran to few CS's. Guess that kinda confirms it. Ohhh well, I think I'll do alright for my 1st set netting from start to finish though.

I have a couple quick questions here.


I have made my switch to Theo. I am in the process of tearing down my Farms and Rebuilding MB's.

I have 60 BPT. Was that too low for roughly 20k acres?
With roughly 2 Weeks remaining. Am I switching too Soon?

Because you do not get the bonus if you hit your own countries. You only get the bonus if you hit someone else's countries.


I don't know if its possible, but maybe even restrict it from intra-tag hits. So it only available when hitting outside your tag or outside your own countrys.

How will that solve anything Tin Man? Self Farmers would still benefit the most out of that exchange.


I am looking for an alternative way to gain alot of land. Without having to Self Farm to do it. I think its only logical that hitting other players countries should in the end give you as much land as hitting your own countries.

It is not an Anti-Self Farming or Anti-DR suggestion, and I encourage everyone to read it. I really think this could solve alot of issues people have on this server.

I made that first comment so people wouldn't come into this thread thinking "This is Anti-Self Farming or Anti-DR".


I had to re-read your post a few times Rockman. Did you not read my suggestion?

The way it is currently, defiantly is stacked in favor of the smaller guy hitting the bigger guy. But my suggestion would fix that. The smaller guy would get huge gains, but the bigger guy would get his land back + more after ghost.


Lets say I am Country A... And you are Country B...
Lets say I am 7k Acres... And you are 20k Acres...
Lets say I am 5m NW... And you are 5m NW...


Country A hits Country B and 200% Ghost Acres Bonus is Applied. Country A Takes 2.5k Acres from Country B and also gains 5k Ghost Acres. Country A now has 14.5k Acres.



Country B retals Country A and 200% Ghost Acres Bonus is Applied. Country B Takes 1.5k Acres from Country A and also gains 3k Ghost Acres. Country B now has 22k Acres.



How is that not a win win situation?

I agree, it wouldn't eliminate farming of untags and small tags. But it might encourage players to hit more around there NW to get the max gains from Ghost Acres. I don't think this idea or any idea will completely eliminate farming of the little guys, but it could very well lessen it.


And this idea isn't meant to discourage Self-Farming. Its meant to provide an Alternative to Self-Farming. Since some players do not feel Self-Farming is within the spirit of the game, I think its a little unfair to not provide us with a way to gain the same effects as Self-Farming.


If you can get to 250k acres Self Farming, I believe there should be a way to get to 250k acres doing SS/PS's against other players. And I think this idea may do that.



As for Self-Farmers benefiting from this. Make the Ghost Acre Bonus only available when hitting other peoples countries and not your own.



Lastly, This will not eliminate Self-Farming. Whoever Self Farms will still be able to Self Farm. It just bridges the gap between Self Farmers and everyone else. Because lets face it, there have been hundreds maybe even thousands of Self Farmed countries to have over 60k acres. How many countries have ever gone over 60k acres by using SS/PS against other players? I'd safely say that 99% of all countries over 60k acres were self farmed. That is what I'd like to change with this Idea.

To be honest, I don't know if even 200% Ghost Acre bonus will be enough to bridge the gap between Non Self Farmers and Self Farmers. That is because Self Farmers do not have to worry about 1 retal for every hit they do on themself. They only worry about being topfeed. So they put themself into DR.


But 200% is a start, and I think its a good direction to take the server. I love the thought of encouraging hits between different players, instead of vendetta's and farming.

Give Countries a 200% Ghost Acre bonus for thier 1st hit on any country during a set.

Give Countries a 100% Ghost Acre bonus for any subsequent attack on that same country after a 1 week cooldown period.


Example:

5/4/2011 Country A hits Country B. Receives 200% Ghost Bonus.
5/4/2011 Country A hits Country B. Receives No Additional Bonus.
5/11/2011 Country A hits Country B. Receives 100% Ghost Bonus.
5/11/2011 Country A hits Country B. Receives No Additional Bonus.

Or

5/4/2011 Country A hits Country B. Receives 200% Ghost Bonus.
5/4/2011 Country A hits Country C. Receives 200% Ghost Bonus.
5/4/2011 Country A hits Country D. Receives 200% Ghost Bonus.
5/4/2011 Country A hits Country E. Receives 200% Ghost Bonus.



This provides players with incentives to SS/PS different countries instead of farming the same country.


I believe this would also help bridge some of the gap between land sizes of Self Farmers and those that prefer SS/PSing other players.


If Self Farmers want to Self Farm, I think it wouldn't be a problem. As long as those who don't Self Farm are provided the same opportunity to get high land sizes.

If your allowed to DR your countries after self farming. Shouldn't I be allowed to grab you, then DR myself so you can't make a retal?



My issue has always been that Self Farming is more benefitial than hitting other peoples countries. In a game of interaction between players with military units like Troops, Tanks, Spys, Jets and Turrets. I would hope that hitting other peoples countries would be the path to 250k acres. Instead, the only path to 250k acres is by hitting yourself.


That is what I feel is wrong. It goes against the spirit of the game. And in doing so, it is hurting the server. I want FFA server to have a ton of players. But the game mechanics are designed to keep you happy instead of making it fun for new players.

The code will never be changed because the Developers are netters and are biased on the subject of DR. If it doesn't benefit them, they won't change it. They will respond to any suggestions of change with the same response they alway say:

"Its not unfair. Because anyone can do it, and the Free For All servers purpose is to allow people to play the game ANY way they want".



What if we had Developers that were Warriors instead of Netters?

What if there was coding in the game that started every country with 25 of each type missile and there was no GDI or Humanitarians on the FFA Server? Would you complain about it to the Developers after your top country was turned into a parking lot by a string of 200k NW countries? Would you ask for the code to be changed?


What if the Developers told you "Its not unfair. Because anyone can do it, and the Free For All servers purpose is to allow people to play the game ANY way they want".


Would that upset you? Would you start to revolt against those Developers and claim they are Biased? Would you use that part of the game coding to your advantage just because you could? or would you become vocal in trying to get it eliminated? Would you make suggestions to try and give yourself some protection?




Unfortunately though, the Game Developers and people like you only see 1 side of things. You all can't wrap your head around the fact that DR is unfair to everyone in the game besides yourself.


You are just lucky that the Game Developers share your View on these things. If I was a Game Developer on this server, you'd know what its like to be in our shoes. Complaining and fluffing daily about how netgainers are getting shafted.

25+ million turrets may sound like alot.

But if you only have 25m turrets on 200k land, its the same as having 2.5m turrets on 20k land.


There is a valid issue with the DR system. Those who use it together with Self Farming have no risks but get all the rewards. And they have no room to complain if they loose 10k acres in a grab. If you loose 10k out of your 250k, who cares. Its like looking 1k acres when you have 25k. It wont ruin your experience.

If the Farmers start stocking, will Bushel Prices rise even more? And if it does, would a Farmer selling on the public market for say 60-80 per bushel do as well as a Farmer that Stockpiles and sells in bulk on the private market?

At this point of the set. What kind of income per turn would put you in the top 10, top 50 and top 100? Assuming no buyouts or FA's.


Are the countries that will hit the top 10 stocking more than $20m cash per turn?


I am asking this because I am curious how I may finish this set. I believe I am doing quite well, and I have hopes of putting all 16 in the top 100. But I do not know if my income per turn will get me there.

There is still alot of elite prospects still on the board. I am getting excited now for Seattles pick at 25. I didn't think any of them would slide this far down in the draft.

He is a gamble pick for sure. Your not going to know what your going to get from him until OTA's start.


Miami may go with Prince Akumura. Either that or maybe Mark Ingram. The draft has been pretty suprising so far, so nothing is out of the question. Maybe another QB lol
