#1 this is why the new leaderboard should have a 'best of strat' tracker, so even if you went casher you can still grab a point for the leaderboards if you have the best casher

The purpose of the defense alliance is this:
A defensive alliance builds a solid foundation to protect each of the partners. Any time you are attacked, 25% of of your allies' forces will come to assist in your defense. However, Your total battle strength cannot be more than doubled through allies, so having allies at your strength is most beneficial in the long run.

That's really all those are for (and to get people chatting and making friends). Even when you have those alliances, you can't coordinate your activities or share any intel that takes a turn to provide, since it's not a teams server.

There's lots of things that shouldn't be allowed on the forum in order to make it a more inviting place, things like hate speech, death wishes, and so on. Otoh you do have to be judicial with when to punish because people will quit if they feel like they're being trampled on with bans/suspensions and can't share their perspective.

Tech is viable if there’s very few techers. In that case tech start is also ideal and it’s always the safe choice. It all depends on the market though... too many techers and being a techer stinks, and tech starting isn’t really necessary.

I had a crazy idea that players could be allowed to toggle their round by up to 12 hours, so that different countries would run out of turns at different times. It would be weird but it did make me go hmm.

I feel like the cash gain was basically halved because oil was $350 at that time... plus 700k jets lost, and the costs of rebuilding and defense losses on my retal, so ultimately it was only a gain at all as a topfeed with net acre gain. But yes topfeeds do pay sometimes.

A leaderboard for sanctioned players would be rewarding bad behavior. All-x leaderboard on the other hand does make sense.

I did that for a few turns last round before I caught it. I was telling someone that in BRE, Mehul had it so that unassigned industries produced cash (relatively ineffectively, it was still better to sell on private).

It makes things confusing for other users, and if it's unsolicited it could be quite annoying for the one who got their name impersonated. And in a solo server, it gives the appearance of funny business even if there is none.
