As a person playing a country in SoL this set, at no point was I given any instruction to save turns or be war prepped by a certain date for any warlike FS. Getting warfare tech is just standard procedure for players who want to be prepared if there is a future war. If we were planning to hit then a turnsave would have been announced well in advance.

Why not? For decades we never had an ability to check this and we recruited on trust, if that did happen it was then the diplomacy of the alliance leaders that had to rectify any issues caused by members regardless of how new they were. Alliances used to be large enough that any new recruits had to go through a "training tag" to learn the game and respect the clan before they were allowed to tag up to the main clan.

This only seems to be a "I've had my netting set ruined I must know who did this so I can get my revenge when I'm going to run a country which actually has defense next set" tool.

Most active players are in open chat areas such as irc/discord. If you know who owns which country and already know if they're online or active at certain times then this can influence the target selection per chat to make killing more efficient and walling harder.

Not sure why outside tools are getting a lot of flack, they've been part of the game for over 20 years including SMS bots and highlights, they're not new and most of them haven't been developed in years.

Bots need to bite back, being defenseless landfarms has nulled a lot of what made the server fun, earning the respect to net and allying with other clans for defense. ClanGDI was the final nail in that coffin.

ClanGDI needs to have a cost associated with it which adds a balance because of the protection it offers, much like regular GDI and government types. If you're having to rely on ClanGDI because your leadership fails at the basics of deplomacy it shouldn't give you the right to farm anything else in the server and be protected from everything else in the server. ClanGDI only "works" because there are bots, alliances used to fight wars over every scrap of land to get the best finish but that got dumbed down with the use of bots. If you had ClanGDI but no bots, clans wouldn't join ClanGDI. It would go back to the old ways of grabbing and retals.

ClanGDI should be a last resort, not the mainstream.

Unstable dynamic? It's already broken.

Make all bots retal so the clanGDI countries have to carry turrets too and don't get a free ride farming with no risk. Add a dynamic where if a bot gets farmed too much it can suicide at will if it gets really unhappy, then if alliances of bots feel like they're being pushed around too much they could declare war and start to kill the clans abusing them...

Starting to sound like how the game used to be?

Relative sanctuary already existed, it was called diplomacy and many other netting clans seem capable of doing that.

Might as well dumb the game down further and randomly give countries 500-3000 acres a day instead of 20a on login so there's no requirement to farm bots. Then you don't have to hold any military at all and can netgain even better!
