I dont think you would get a good answer from anyone playing atm, everyone has their perspective of things.

MD vs Laf and SoF goes back to a event where several of the established alliances had their site compromised by a player called Turtlecrawler who was then playing in LaF, he also was able to enter the gamecode via some agreement with Pangeaa about server, I dont know the details about that. Anyway, MD was in charge of the bandwagon who wanted LaF and LaF leadership in particular to take the fall for what LaF argued was a isolated players shinanigans. MD and SoF who were then allies disagreed on how to best deal with the situation. A list of demands was made public endorsed by the "anti-cheat" block, SoF did not support this. It created a schism that up til today still govern alot of the server politics indirectly. Wars were fought and it became a matter of endurance, LaF proved again that they were very able to war when needed and with SoF backing them they were able to turn the battle around and recovered. With the help of SoF and RD and to some extent rival they ran a very hard pacting policy that forced several alliances to be repeatedly crushed in wars that was ment to deter other alliances from standing up against the Laf,rd,sof,rival block. LaF took a passive role quite early and only entered wars to bail out SoF prettymuch (this is probably something the other side will tell differently). RD and SoF, the two alliances who historicly stood furthest away from each other now seemed like bff, this alone pissed off alot of people. They continued their "regin of terror" on the alliances of the losing block with LaFs silent approval. This is where I'm not sure exactly what took place but RD and LaF had a fallout, they became less and less friendly and LaF moved more and more towards neutral. (although they always still seemed to pick the SoF RD side when time came to choose). They were very successful with this until a few sets back RD had another cheating incident that lead to the alliance disbanding (to be blunt they got deleted by the administrators of the game). After this things looked very different for the up to that day so strong block. What you are seeing now is the aftermath.

MD vs RD goes waaaaay back to the old e2025 days

I think we are talking about different things tho, my timewindow wouldnt nessecary be the ammount of time you get the defensive bonus, just the window where you are unable to make attacks.

The defensive bonus could be a much smaller window.

Resetting the defensive bonus would just add upp more time with of your offensive disadvantages.

Say you get 4h of defensive bonus, after 4 hours you log in again, add another "fortify", you would then get (8-4)+8 hours of no attacks, the 12h would be a fixed number that wont add up, it wouldnt auto renew you would have to log in to get a new bonus. Add a max number similar to 5 PS:es that would give you.

4+4+4+4+8=24h of no attacks and 12h of increased readiness cost for attacks.

What you can do then is add a certain increased defense% / civ loss % for every stacked "fortify"

This can be used to build up and counter a FS and add a new level of tatics to the metagame.

I really like that as well. There may be a B&S thread on it or maybe it was discussed in the staff channel. I think I remember suggesting that it be 1 attack's worth of turns (based on gov) and take another attack's worth to wake your troops up early. Also, around 4-8 hours would be a more ideal range, IMO. I'd rather use it as a tool to promote engagement (logging in) instead of a "set it and forget it" thing you do after you spend your turns after a war chat.

There also has to be deeper look at how much military you dig in vs the pop they are defending to determine how much civilian defence you get. Or it could just be a country-level mode where all your troops/tanks at home are in defence mode. That would be simpler to code :p


Ok say its 8 hours no attacks, how about the next 12 you can attack but at the cost of readiness per attack is doubled?

I'm all for lowering total turns, it would diminish the FS advantage, a power that currently is settleing the vast majority of all wars in the first 48-72 hours. It should not affect the speed of kills tho, as most people hit daily you wont see a steep decline in killtimes...

As for walling I'd rather see a function similar to planned strike but for defense, rendering your troops unable to attack for 20h but they remain home dug in instead. Say it lowers civillian losses by 25% and increase military power by 10-25% or something similar, cost would be alot more then 2 turns, say 10turns

I see a very simple solution, any resources obtained in the last 24-36h does not follow with the restart. I think 24h should be enough.
This would have little or no effect to actual war countries as they rely on stocks built up during a longer period and are in turnsaving mode in general. FA would obviously have to be excluded as its seen as legit for restarts at war. This would also kinda nerf the production advantage of a FS as any country killed from the agressor would lose his production during the FS. Restart rules remain as they are now based on # of defends, maybe a slight buff to CS:es.

The reason suiciders come back as strong or stronger every time is because they can go on a grabbing spree before they are killed. If this option was removed for them they'd quickly grow weak. Any tag should be able to kill a suicider within 24h. It also means suiciding suddenly requires you do to some actual work trying to survive the first 24h.

This will not prevent your "pro" suicider as he/she has the intent to do harm and plans it out, but it will stop the random "griefer" who just decides fluff it my country sucks I'm gonna make someone else feel as bad as me.

The reason all the big tags are down is because they dont have to inflate their numbers for stupid server wars, every set alliances are forced to recruit old players that come back to defend the tag, then get bored and doesnt restart when they realise it actually takes time to commit to war. Not having server wars allows these players to rest out, come back, and actually have fun netting and chat with old friends, who knows maybe they stay for one or two sets.
