I did the Google results fluff and I got the red/white to headphone jack.. but I go hdmi video and dual audio input/output and the hdmi works but my pc 2.1 speakers won't work it sounds at best like a whisper in a strong wind.
I plugged headphones into the speakers and it hears finely like.

the jack from your PC speakers don't have a mic input like a headset would for headphones that's why you are getting a bad input to them, pull the jack out slightly until the sound is proper if that doesn't work then get an adapter.

you need a stereo phono jack to stereo + mic phono jack

stereo headphones like a laptop speaker jack is 3 poles left/right/hot, stereo+mic is 4 poles left/right/mic/hot

you will tell difference stereo has 2 seperators in it (3 connections) while stereo+mic has 3 seperators (4 connections).

so you want something like this

Ps3 to r/w/y - ps3 to r/w to phonograph jack male to 3.5mm female to 3.5mm female adaptor to green computer audio in (which should be ps3 audio in not cpu)

it will split it either way you only plug in the pc speakers to the audio out. You don't have to plug in a microphone.

red/white is audio yellow is video if you get an rca to phono jack then thats all you need for the PC speakers its turns the red/white into a 3.5mm phono jack then yellow you put to your video source.

where you get a red red white black from sounds like some sweat shop mix up.

My only issue is instead of red/white I have red/black. Six dollars at parkwoods mall, vp and ellesmere. 2009 era ps3, heh.

Does it go ps into tv then tv out to external speakers? That seems round about.. and impossible my Samsung HDTV only has digital audio out so mayhap impossible

red/white red/black rca components are still left/right but if you have the HDMI already going to your tv that includes audio already.

best off getting an HDMI switchboard that lets you turn that HDMI output into multiple components.

In the pa you can pick hdmi rca or dual audio I have tried all three.

I have hdmi audio through my tv. I can run rca audio through my tv. I want the ps to send the audio, sure fine to the TV, but also more importantly to the left and right speaker and subwoofer I have currently in limbo between my computer and my playstation. I plug the green back into the green on my tower computer and sound works.. I plug those same speakers into my ps3 with all the same wires and connections and nada.

OK so I fiddled with the wires as you suggested above there and half plugged in it sounds fine actual sound in the speakers..

Will the splitter you showed above fix this permanently?

Well only one speaker works and no subwoofer

if the output is a headset jack it will split the left/right/mic into left/right output with seperate mic input. just go into a store that sells electronics and ask for the 4 pole male to 3 pole + mic female
or just show them that ad.
