What is the best opening for tech? How many acres roughly should you have before swapping heavy to tech? What do you fill those acres with?

im still getting a handle on it. depends on the game really. i was told once that you want at least 300-400 enterprise, res, indi, and farms before you start building your tech. i have between 400-500 myself with some oil but now all the land i get exploring or a few grabs goes towards tech

I typically start teching at either 2k or 3.5k to 4k acres in tourney.

If I start at 4k, I build farms until my first batch explore and then labs after.

If I start at 2k, I'm not really sure what acreage I start building labs at. It really depends on what my land goal is. In the past, I've built farms up to 2k acres, got my BPT up, and then switched. I've also switched started building labs earlier, like after having 500-600 farms to finance it.

if you are tech starting you take into consideration the strat you are switching to after and build small amount of those buildings, labs should take up 85-90% of your land and be very close to 1k tpt, if you plan on a quick tech start do it at half that size and have a tpt over 500 and only tech what you need for a mid set land goal.

O_o so it's weird that I'm getting 2k tpt right now? (posting on 5/17) -- only teching the rest of my turns and banking money/bushels for a final push at the end?
