I find the forums pretty entertaining but the way guys sperg out over the game is way too much for me. The lying and cheating and building wierd it’s a bots and setting alarms.

I think it’s probally one of the main reasons new players don’t come. The amount of investment the spergs require is just way too much.

I bet I was asked no less than 1,000 times to join all kinds of weird stuff. Discord. Bots this and bots that. Sign up for this and go over here. It’s just annoying.

I just want to log in and play the game and when I walk away be done with this world. That level of investment isn’t a positive thing imo it’s one of the worst things about this place

I assure you I will never set an alarm and wake up for kill runs. If I’m on I’m on and if not I don’t care. Zero chance I ever change that play style. The way the guys obsess over the kill counts is a little wierd. I’ve always admired kamaze style tactics in military history so worrying about kill counts seems a little pointless when you are playing with that style.

The reason new players don't come is because this is a text based game that's over 2 decades old. Most players don't even post on AT. Do you see 19 separate PDMers or 25 SOLers or 26 M4Ders posting on AT?

That’s honestly what’s went through my head as a new comer. The game was great. The people are jerks and if you say anything back to talk trash back then you get deleted.

I’m sure this us ran off any people who genuinely support Americans ideals of free speech

I didn’t even want Derrick banned when he threatens to have me jumped by bloods. I genuinely think it was handled better and resolved by me talking trash until he shut up about that.

He stopped and I dropped it and that was the end of it. If the thread had been banned that wouldn’t have happened and maybe that’s why people leave here

It’s indisputable that forums are extremely popular nowadays. If yours isn’t then you should take a hard look at why. 4chan is unmoderated to the extent that if it isn’t a federal crime it’s generally allowed and they receive 22 million visitors per month. They allow their users to speak freely in general and there is no denying it is a recipe for success.

As an aside, for the sheer number of different boards and topics that 4chan nominally covers, technically, they're even more niche than EE is, given our boards are basically for people who specifically play THIS game, and post in relation to this game for the most part.

That said, Advertising would do EE some wonders, and I think that a bigger issue is simply that EE is not really "out there" for the wider public per se.
