Fair enough but this place still needs a flow of enough players to keep it functioning. 62 players in primary is when it’s time to start seriously considering taking action to bring some new guys in. I don’t know the owners but my understanding is they saved the game out of love for the game. So I also want to see this place prosper. I dislike half of the people here but that’s another convo.

Someone reach out, send an email to the large YouTubers in the retro gaming community. They are getting a substantial amount of views (10’s of thousands) of people looking for this stuff.

There is an entire community, just contact all of the channels. Boom
There’s thousands of potential new players who you know are interested.

I did get a better dev environment mostly done using Docker so it would make it easier to build the game, but haven't had time to finish that.

With the YouTube algorithms on shorts the way they are now, I think we could possibly get some people to come if we create shorts with a fairly small amount time or effort. Just tag it as a retro game and online game and it will get spread. Music in the background helps I think as well. Just a 15-30 second video saying something brief and then showing gameplay or whatever.

You have an ever so slight presence already and there is 3,000 views on this video now. So someone out there is looking and remembers or is interested. I think there could be a lot more potential here.

Are you a computer guy? Or do you know a guy who knows a guy by any chance who can do this stuff and has the time and willingness? That question goes out to anyone lurking as well.

I would consider myself a computer guy, but if you mean that in the sense if I can program, then no, I cannot.

But you don't need to code to market - that's more PR, and it is something I can actually help with (but I'm not in Marketing as a profession - if someone else is, they should step up).

I think the biggest issue with this game is that why would anyone in the year 2025 play this text-based game? There are no images and the UI is awful.

I've seen the beta and while the UI is better FOR US, it is hideous to an outside gamer who has no idea what EE is about.

If you want to market the game, there needs to be more pizazz and artwork. It needs *something*.

And that's no disrespect to Pang, QZ, and Slagpit - they are working to keep the game we all know and love working with new enhancements to keep it interesting. But what's interesting for us isn't interesting for a Gen Alpha kid looking for a new game to play.

There’s plenty of games out there like that. This place has soul and a community though and nowhere else captures that feel that I’ve seen. It’s unique in an of itself. Realistically, we need to do gorilla marketing and invite old players back.

The emails have been relatively successful over the past several years. They returning players went to a variety of clans and that has stabilized some of the player losses. The database of the players that joined Earth empires is still there for the moderators to go through

Many of us have been playing for a long time and don't necessarily want to see the game die. It's relatively free fun. It's a niche, there are retro gaming boards out there and I have posted on the majority of them. Blackhole had some decent luck on 4chan.

People come back and check in; we don't always give them a compelling reason to stay.
