as far as i recall, every single one of my "trades" was 1;1 and l;l, magellaan.

The thing is, I have a 20k acres demo techer and I could have easily matched nw with 100k acre+ landtraders. If Id hit them I would want to be retalled 1:1.

This would limit the effectiveness of landtrading :)

if your alliance agrees to punish YOU for your actions against an ally, then your issue is with your own, not with anybody else.

and blatant or erroneous topfeeding has started many wars, so, if your goal is to war then you stumbled on a very easy way to start one.

i can match your nw on a four thousand acre techer, and attack your twenty thousand acre techer, and you'd say "you know what, clever grab good sir, i commend you. Capital offensive, capital offensive indeed, sir"?

that is a big reason l;l is not accepted in FFA to limit the power of landtrADERS

Topfeeding is always based on Land, not networth.

Topfeeding definition is based on flavor of the month.

Yes, that would be a good grab. It would mean my defense wasn't adequate if even such a small country could match nw. If I don't know how to defend myself I'll lose my land with these rules, it would make the game a little more challenging I think.

Next set Im going to try again to do this landtrading thing properly, should be fun to really go for it but I think I'll get bored with it within a couple sets. If enough people feel the same eventually retal policies could be changed, that's all Im saying basically.

magellaan: 4k acre production might be a stretch, so you'll forgive me that (:P), but you'll never be able to run enough defense if the person wanting to attack you is at all determined.

in FFA there is no "topfeeding" . If a 4k country hit a 40k country it is the 40k countries fault for not having enough defence. It is hard to draw the line where is enough defence cause your trading partner has to be able to break you as well. Happens all the time. if someone decides to take more then 1 :1 it is not because of l;l, it is because he thinks the string is weak.

top feeding is better than bottom feeding because the bottom usually tastes like crap.

there is topfeeding in FFA, just that nobody will accept or enforce a L:L policy. topfeeding is almost irrelevant anyways because pretty much every alliance in this server has a L:L policy for grabs, not even top feeds. so if you attack someone with 10x your land expect multiple retals.
