even bother to grab on this server?

With the ridiculous amount of turns you can stock, it's just as easy to hit 10k acres all-x'ing as it is to grab, not to mention not nearly as hazardous for your country's health.

As an example, I'm running a Theo/Techer this set, and up until I stopped exploring yesterday afternoon, I was running land:land with the fattest grabbing countries in the game, and I even had to take turns to stop and tech in between batches....

I don't get it either Now3p, I have always ran all-x on this server and end up with as much land as most.
The ones that do the mass grabbing ,end up losing most of it back..or worse.

Because grabbing can be a lot of fun! But I have 0 jets...

lots of people run low military on this server. very low

But if I'm running the same land as a grabber, without the losses, in theory at least, I'm coming out ahead....even if their losses are minimal....not to mention exponentially decreasing my chances of getting suicided in any given set.

that was my thinking. Also being able to stockpile so many turns benefits strategies that can play 450 turns at once (casher/farmer but esp casher). You can play your first 350 turns focusing on getting land/tech and only buy up military at the very end which can make you way more efficient=)

I dunno. Does the amount of buildings/food/tech/cash captured that don't require construction even out weapons losses on grabs?

That and I can grab 1000 acres in a lot less turns than I can explore them after exploration rates hit 20 or so acres per turn.

It wold be a cool experiment to have two guys compare costs and gained net worth with one exploring and building a thousand acres at, say 20 acres a turn and the other guy grabbing and building them.

Well, yes, this approach is really only effective in Express where the server dynamics are much more all-x friendly, hence why the question was posted in EXPRESS TALK.

Popcorn - I don't self farm in FFA - I tried it out last set in an effort to break llaar's land record of 1.1 something mil acres, but given that he made me his fluff in no uncertain terms and I was bored out of my skull by week 3, I have since given up and don't have any desire to do it again. 50k acres is NOTHING in terms of self farming, but congrats on being a bitter cross-server hater anyways....

Cobalt - I can't, but I can build one hell of a war start up on all-x when I have to. Up to 10-12 NW I can hang w/ most folks, but after that I'm utterly worthless unless I'm killing things ;-)

Yeah, popcorn....Quoting and then modifying something specific to express server to bring up fluff from FFA about self-farming, which is obviously a hot topic, and one that you've posted against in FFAT definitely wouldn't qualify as being a hater....

this is the part where I roll my eyes and walk away.

every time i play all-x, I get farmed and I hate it. this set I decided to grab and farm others for a change. Will I get AB'ed and Nuked in the last 6 hours of the game? I'm pretty sure that it will happen, becuase that is exactly what I do to the people that farm me lol

pretty much SF....folks get awfully brave all of a sudden when they can have a new country name w/in 72 hrs.
