I could explain why having a 1099 (partially self contracted) and 3 jobs totalling over 100k but less than 200k had no/marginal effect on my taxes, but I do consider 250 a month to be marginal. It's actually not enough to make a difference for me.

My marginal tax rate in 2015 was in a 25% bracket, trump dropped the margins but also bumped classes. So I went up a tax bracket to 24%. After deductions from my LLC, I payed a real tax rate of about 18.4% in 2019 compared to 18.3% in 2015-16.

I'm just in that range where it didnt help me near as much as buying a computer and writing it off would have. The bracket right next to mine also went from 33 to 32% marginal rate. Which is also not really extra money really.

I think your range dropped from 15% to 12% tho. I'm not completely blind to the fact that it helped some folks, but I also dont view 250 bucks as life changing money.

I mean you have to pay taxes to get money back. I paid enough but you have to be realistic on what you can get back. Sure a billionaire got a million bucks extra but i did not pay a million in taxes. What should i have expected other than 250?

Its burns me up when they say the poor got nothing from it. Increased child credit and higher deduction level. So it is wrong when people say they got nothing from it.

But personally, i am a deficit hawk. I would rather they only dropped the business tax rate and closed their loopholes. I would have preferred my 250 not increased the deficit. Things are actually just different now. When I first started smoking, dirt weed could be got for a coin. When hydro first started coming out of the black market from medical states, 8ths went for as high as $80 at one time. Supply and demand mostly tho, as more states get it the more the price drops, but you've seen a complete disappearance of beasters and mids.

Usually now you can get an ounce around 250, but it blows the fluff they smoked 10 years ago out of the water. One hit of the stuff and you're laughing at cartoons and eating a package of oreos haha.

I wouldn't have even dropped the corporate tax rate. I don't think it was necessary. Corporations were sitting on more liquid income than at any time in american history and, as we've seen, were by and large not expanding more rapidly or experiencing growth because they were already expanding and growing.

Trump, and this is no offense to him, people look at the economy about 100 different ways to say it's doing well, but he only ever looks at one thing. The stock market. The problem is the stock market can conflate and deflate for a number of reasons. If corporate tax was 0% the stock market would soar but small businesses and people on main street would be hurting and the housing market and interest rates would rapidly become out of reach.

If you're going to do something like that, you have to at least make the billionaires pay for it. It can be good for the economy to have a low rate on corps, but someone has to pay for it eventually. It seems all we did here was increase stock values without any real benefit.

But also, Brigg has spoken to me about his work for a screen printing LLC. Rather than holding more assets and increasing the value of their stocks, they just invested the extra money into worker wages and remained solvent. Their stock value will have remained flat if they are publically traded which wouldnt have given trump the idea that it is working, but the quality of life of their employees was increased dramatically and I can 100% say I can understand why he supports trump tax plans. His company does the right thing with it.

I wish there was some way they could pay a normal rate, or get the new rate if they invest it into more jobs or better wages. Because too many companies in this country are just holding the extra money in a slush fund and increasing their stock value.

The kid was just graduating from college and i said to help you transition into the real world, what i will do is pay your car insurance until you and your also graduated bf get settled. When you move from your first appt, change your first job, or change your current job, then you need to factor car insurance into the equation.

May not be life changing for me, but it sure helps to trickle down to a kid getting started.

Yep. And little things can make a big difference for people entering the work force at the worst possible time in generations.

I haven't been keeping up. Are they still able to stay on your health insurance until they are 25 or 27 or whatever? That was one part of Obamacare that I liked because I just didn't have insurance in college and took a pretty big set back with my health problems for four years. Was glad to see that was less likely for future generations.

That is a pretty good safety net tho. Someone that age all you really need is access to transportation, health care and and a cell phone. You have the ability to get everything else you need. But it is a tough work force to enter. Tougher than ever I figure.

My girlfriend is 23 (dont judge) and she got her first job outside of the restaurant industry after getting her degree. She is now a research scientist at one of the most prestigious research schools in the country in Vanderbilt. She makes 15 an hour. To my eyes, that's about the very minimum I would need to survive, but also she has limited experience. It doesnt matter if you have a doctorate in physics that you spent 800k to get, you better be planning to work for less than 40k a year for 3 to 5 years. That's the way it is now. And you'll die with some of that debt.

Someone taking the edge off of what it takes to survive for this generation entering the work force is nice. It's a fact. I think it's almost a period in time where you could consider that a nice safety net, or the minimum it would take not to see them struggle. Without help, it doesnt matter if you're a genius who made all the grades. You are expected to pay for an education that amounts to 20 years of your entry level wages. GOOD LUCK! Kids these days will need help getting thru that.

My brother in his infinite wisdom was pushed both by guidance counselors and high school teachers all the way thru college profs get his Masters Degree in music education. I feel like they hosed him tho knowing hed get paid <50k with 300k+ in debt. fluff just isnt fair for this generation. Even when I graduated 10 years ago I was paying about 1/5 of what it costs to go to the same university now. fluff got way outta whack. I feel like the smartest kids are skipping secondary education these days. Wish I had someone smart enough to tell me that too, because I've never actually used that piece of paper I paid 80k for. It would cost 320k now tho, so I guess I'm glad I got it when I did, or else I would still be shelling out a third of my paycheck to that.

I believe inflation exists so naturally I understand why education gets more expensive as years go by. It's just bizarre to me that we've accepted wages rising 5 times slower and millionaires becoming billionaires instead of a stable economy that doesnt absolutely fluff on today's youth.

And then boomer dad goes "This generation doesnt wanna work," while their kid has 400k in debt entering the work force, and doesnt even see how a 40k job could ever even make a dent after their expenses, and they realize their life is over before it ever started haha.

My most "fluff this generation" moment came in February of this year, when I paid off the very last of my debt and began considering business investment which the pandemic railroaded soon after. Why I didn't make the worst timing business decision ever? Because I dont have any credit cards. And when I payed off the last of my debt, my credit score plummeted because I had 0 accts open. fluff fully dropped into the mid 600s because I had no debt or credit limits or mortgages or car notes or anything. Since I had no "lines of credit" after paying like 150k to go debt free, my credit score was ruined lol. It went from good, to unable to generate credit score due to no credit, to fair in a flash. YARGH

I've been building it back but i was so angry and annoyed about being alive in this time. Ugh.

I actually did read it. And one of the things that drives me nuts is the cost of education.

Liberals keep saying have the govt pay for college. NO! That only continues to drive the cost out of control and leads to higher taxes everywhere.

What they need to do is put the focus on driving the cost down and don't keep feeding the beast.

We're about as good at that as we are driving down the cost of pharmaceuticals tho. It just never happens. And even if you do drive the cost down for the next generation, are you just gonna say fluff the millennials who paid a half million for a basic secondary education, they have to pay!

If they ever do tackle the problem. It surely starts with driving the cost down but does end with some level of forgiveness for the people who got hosed on it. Specifically people who graduated in the last 10 to 15 years. There should be incentives for seeking to do better in life, not crippling debt. You want this generation to want to work, its surely a good start.
