The first step to improving your country is to choose a strategy.

The best ones for a newer player are casher, farmer, and industrialist. Since your country is already a democracy, I would advise choosing either casher or farmer.

A casher focuses all their buildings on producing as much cash as possible, whereas a farmer focuses all their buildings on producing as much food as possible, and selling their surplus food on the public market to get cash. Both strategies buy all their military and technology off of the public market, and cashers buy all their food off the public market as well.

Since you cannot purchase spies, you do need about 3 to 5% of your land as industrial complexes, set at 100% spy production, and you need about 100 to 300 construction sites to give you a reasonable growth rate. But everything else should be just one or two building types, depending on your strategy.

That was my country last set. Thats how you play a MBR. But MBR is the toughest strategy to do well with, so I would recommend that this player not play a MBR (I don't think he even knew what a MBR was when he selected MBR for his strategy when creating this thread)..
