anyone know who ran the bot? I'd like to try and get a copy of it to run on earthempire's IRC server.

I contacted TNSe, but sadly he lost his copy of it back in '09... however there's apparently a few people who were given copies of if. I'm still trying to track it down.

It was an IRC game which simulated a stock market. Players would buy shares of listed products and random game events would modify stock values. The goal was to make as much money as possible.

I talked to Xerg, he's got a copy somewhere but he can't get his hands on it cause the computer it's on has no monitor! I suppose he can get it some time, but it's a matter of waiting I guess.

In the channel, type ".commands" (without quotes) for a list of commands. use ".start" to start a game, it's pretty straight forward.

If anybody else would like a copy of StockBot for another server (or whatever reason), you can grab it here:

Note: this will only work with mIRC, and I am unaware if there are any version restrictions. (I do eventually plan to port this script to another language such as php, perl or python. Just not sure which one yet.)

I'll try to keep this hosted for as long as possible, but I make no guarantee that it will be available indefinitely. Standard disclaimers apply.. Though I doubt this script will cause harm to anyone's computer, it's available on a 'use at your own risk' basis. I haven't had time to go through it yet, so I have no idea what is in there.
