8 standard strikes (a liittle more PS) in 2 days for game A.

I think tournament rules must be changed:
Don't put anybody under GDI, it will be better if GDI is forbidden

Yes reducing explore rate is a good solution.

Maybe the reason people don't grab is because there are few targets, and if you grab excessively then those few countries will get fed up and start a war. If you want to stay in game A, it's easier if you don't have to fight off a war with several people that you farmed.

Grabbing is normal way to play the game. Tounament rules must be changed because it's true that today thare are not so many target you can hit.

its actually because the set is so short the optimal size is quite small. I usually go all X, ennding up with 6.5k acres and about 20m NW. I could probably finish slightly higher with a few opportunistic landgrabs, but I prefer the all XP.

6.5k acres is not even close to the optimal size. I think that is funny though.

Want to bet that I finish with a higher NW on my 6.5k acres than you?

If you read my post, I say it is best to make A FEW opportunistic grabs and maybe end up around 8-9k acres, and that is probably optimal, but if you spend too much time and money grabbing, I guarantee you will not have a great netting set.

The set is so short that there is not a lot of time to profit from the increased productivity of more acerage. Most of the time people spend more money grabbing, building and growing their countries than what they benefit later from increased productivity.

I am talking about techer, here, obviously a commy has to grab throughout the set and is better off having as much land as possible. But a 6-8k techer will beat any commy, casher, or farmer, most of the time. Best strat in tourny is a 8-10k TTR, grabbing as efficiently as possible.

I'm pertty sure I can finish with a higher networth playing a 9-11k acres techer than your 6.5k techer. You dont know what youre talking about.

I'm willing to take your bet.

Yeah dude you really don't know what your talking about. It's kinda cute though.

First it was 6.5k Is optimal.
Now its Best Strat is 8-10k TTR.

How exactly can 6.5k be optimal, but 8-10k be better then optimal?

Disregarding the retarded contradictions, What your saying is beyond stupid. It's like saying a Casher making 5M a turn, is better then a Casher making 10M a turn.

So, in short, you are the dumbest person I have ever met.

Rob I'm willing to take your bet too. Friendly wager.

By the way dude, read my post, I never said 6.5k was the optimal size. I said the optimal size is much lower due to the shorter set length. I said I personally play a 6.5k acres all XP, but being slightly bigger and making a few opportunistic grabs is probably optimal. So, I made no contradiction and happen to know exactly what I am talking about. Go somewhere else troll.

The 12k techer spends more time and resources grabbing than he realizes later in the set from the increased productivity. I see it all the time.

I never said 6.5k acres was optimal, I said there is a lower optimal acerage in tournament than in other servers due to the shorter set time.

If you can make a few opportunistic grabs early and get up to 8-10k acres, you will probably do quite well, but that is more risky. You end up getting retalled and spending too much time and money trying to grow.

With so few players in the game these days, it is very difficult to grab efficiently. There aren't many targets and you're more than likely going to get retalled a few times.

I felt your response to my post was unproductive and condescending which is why I responded as I did. I'm done posting in this thread, I will post my final NW though and we will see who comes out on top, Rob, JJ23, or myself.

the 12k Techer makes twice as much as you. He can afford the time and resources, and still come out way on top.

a 12k Techer can turtle up and never attack anyone again, and still gain more then you.

Im not saying that you can't post a top 10 with a 6.5k. It can be done, and clearly your very efficient at money management and resells, but concluding that someone with equal MM and Resell skill and 12k land wont gain more then you is just ludacris.

Well, I have something to say To "ihavesexetc", what a pathetic country you are running in Tournament. No weapons tech, no spies, a democracy with a casher strat and not enough tech, and a policy of sending missiles for no reason. Great. Well enjoy the way your country looks when you log in later today, I think its quite improved

I must say though, you run a very good lean country. If you would grab a little and get to around 9k by the 12th or 13th of every set, you would have a very good chance at winning sets.

Rob: Thanks. I did play theo techer for a few sets and got to 9-10k and did finish slightly better than my all XP demo (I don't remember if I converted to MBR to jump, I'm pretty sure I did). Problem is I'm playing Team, Alliance and Primary so I play all XP in tournament because I'm lazy and don't have time to grab. Part of me also wants to try to win the set with this start one day, lol.

I'm sure my all XP will beat some of the grabbing techers and lose to some of the grabbing techers this set. A few opportunistic midfeeds to about 10k acres seems to be the best way to play techer in tournament. BUT that is higher risk as you run the chance of being retalled and eventually spending too much time/money getting to that landgoal.

The greatest cost to a techer when he grabs is the opportunity cost of not teching. If I'm at 2.2k TPT early in the set when tech is around $3000/pt, each turn I spend NOT teching costs me $6.6m. So when you spy your target, spend the turns grabbing and then buillding, the cost begins to add up. If these costs are eventually offset by future increased productivity, it is worth it, if they are not, you are actually worse off.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, I'm just trying to re-articulate the point I was originally trying to make as it seems I did a poor job explaining myself. But yes, it all comes down to grabbing efficiency.

good game Rob and JJ23.

JJ23 - to time your jump best you need to calculate the rate your private market regenerates military, this is a function of your acerage.

On another note, the recent re-introduction of ghost acres has made grabbing more profitable around the board, it yields more acerage for each grab, and you will typically gain in acerage even if you are retalled. Really this makes grabbing strats more powerful than all-X strats.

Before ghost acres were brought back, all-X strats fared a bit better against grabbing strats.

I started to jump 3 days before the end.

If you had jumped earlier, you would have a little less stockpile left :)

Anyways, I look forward to seeing you in game A the set after this one. It would be good to keep pushing for higher networths. This set was good to see the highest networths for top 10s.

kwmi, i've a question for you: How did you manage to finish higher than the set before that considering tech prices were actually much higher the set before the last one?
